BASF announced today that Headline AMP™ fungicide has received full registration from the Environmental Protection Agency. Headline AMP is the first combination fungicide specifically developed for corn growers who want maximum protection from foliar diseases and improved Plant Health.

BASF announces supply agreement for seed treatment in cotton
BASF announced today a supply agreement with Monsanto for a new fungicide seed treatment for cotton in the United States. The new product contains F500®, the same active ingredient found in Headline® fungicide, BASF’s top-selling Plant Health fungicide, and will be part of Monsanto’s Acceleron™ Seed Treatment combination. Additional details of the agreement were not disclosed.

New BASF Kixor herbicide technology receives EPA approvalBASF announced today the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) registration of a new active ingredient, Kixor® herbicide, for use on a wide range of crops and effective on more than 70 broadleaf weeds. Starting this fall, four formulations Powered by Kixor herbicide — Sharpen™ herbicide, OpTill™ herbicide, Integrity™ herbicide and Treevix™ herbicide — will be available to help growers tackle today’s weed control challenges in their fields.

Ag companies join forces to support worldwide hunger
This August, BASF Crop Protection partnered with Horizon Ag partners to donate funds to the Stop Hunger Now organization’s record-breaking University Million Meal Week. BASF is the supplier of the CLEARFIELD® trait, and Horizon Ag partners make CLEARFIELD rice varieties available for planting in the United States. Their donation helped purchase quantities of rice that were used for approximately one-half of the meal packaging effort. Four North Carolina universities hosted University Million Meal Week events, where students and community volunteers packaged 1,031,776 meals for the less fortunate around the world.

BASF and Nunhems enter into agreement for onion seed treatment
BASF announced today an exclusive seed treatment collaboration with Nunhems, the vegetable seed business of Bayer CropScience. Under this agreement, Nunhems will have exclusive use of BASF’s Coronet® fungicide seed treatment on onion seeds in the United States.

Recently discovered race of rust now confirmed on dry beans in North Dakota
BASF is alerting growers to the emergence of a recently discovered race of dry bean rust in fields in Traill County, North Dakota. Plant pathologists at North Dakota State University confirmed this new race of rust based on field observations made late in the 2008 growing season and subsequent laboratory analysis.
