Get the Most Out of Every Soybean Acre. Two-time soybean yield world-record champion Kip Cullers and Iowa State University soybean extension agronomist Dr. Palle Pedersen shared their production practices for increasing soybean yields during the BASF sponsored Commodity Classic Learning Session, “Real World Production Practices to Get the Most Out of Every Soybean Acre.”
The standing-room-only crowd of more than 400 growers listened intently to the hour-long program before peppering Cullers and Pedersen with questions.
In this interactive program, Cullers focused on the specific, proactive steps he has taken to twice break the world’s records on soybean yield.
Pedersen provided years of research and field trial data that highlighted key elements for protecting soybeans once they’ve been planted to obtain top yields.
The goal of the BASF-sponsored session was to help equip growers with the knowledge they need to get the most out of every acre, which is crucial to meeting the growing global demand for agricultural products like soybeans.
NCGA Yield Contest
Later, BASF joined the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) to honor the winners of the 2008 National Corn Yield Contest. During the annual banquet, Adam Burnhams, marketing manager, U.S. Crop Protection Products at BASF, served as a keynote speaker and congratulated participants on their success, despite daunting weather-related challenges in 2008.
Recognizing the Next Generation of Leaders in Agriculture
BASF leveraged the perfect venue of growers, retailers and industry leaders to recognize and showcase the next generation of agricultural leaders to growers.
With grants from BASF, the American Soybean Association and the NCGA awarded scholarships to six promising students who are pursuing degrees in industry-related fields.
If this year’s Commodity Classic is any indication, 2009 will be a year full of innovation and promise for the agriculture industry, and BASF is proud to be an integral part of it.
