Scouting
Scouting your fields regularly is the key to insect control. Be sure to scout at least once a week.
Some situations might even require daily scouting.
Some pests, such as wireworms and white grubs, can't be effectively controlled after planting.
Where these problems occur, the use of a labeled, at-planting soil insecticide is required.
Scout throughout the field -- not just in one or two locations. It's best to check 5-20 plants in
at least five randomly selected areas of the field.
And remember, no two fields are alike. Check each field based on planting date, topography and other factors.
Keep good records. Finally, if you suspect a serious insect problem, treat your field immediately.
